Further details on the International Economic Conference

Following the announcement by Hizb ut-Tahrir of an International Economics Conference in Khartoum, Sudan on 3rd January 2009, there has been news and commentary on the conference appearing in the global media.

On Tuesday 16th December, the "Al-Sudaniyah" newspaper wrote that Hizb ut-Tahrir was organising an international conference in Khartoum. It noted that there would be presentations by economists, Muslim scholars and scholars from the Shabab of Hizb ut-Tahrir. It further noted that thousands of delegates would be attending the conference that was scheduled to run from 10 am to 8 pm at Hall No 1 at the Convention Centre in Burri, Khartoum.

On the 17th of December, the same newspaper published an article stating that a member of the conference media committee had stated that there would be 12 presentations, including the participation by 4 non-Muslim experts who would discuss the capitalist ideology.

On 20th December 2008, the Yemeni media (NewsYemen) reported that Hizb ut-Tahrir was convening an international economics conference on 3rd of January 2009/7th Muharram 1430 Hijri. The media outlet noted that the topics to be covered at the conference would include the intrinsic flaws within Capitalism, the emergence of the current economic crisis and its global impact and the solutions offered by the Islamic economic system under the Khilafah state. It was noted that Hizb ut-Tahrir had issued an open invitation to delegates to attend the conference and discuss these vital issues.

On 23rd December 2008, the Bangladesh newspaper, the Daily Inqilab, carried an article reporting on the conference and noting that it would detail the Islamic economic system in a comprehensive manner.

Who will ever break the silence on Israel?

Deeply saddening, appalling is indeed the violence in Gaza, as our world leaders have called it. Events which stir our emotions intensely. But more than emotion, we all feel a view, have an opinion as politics doesn't just conjure feeling, it conjures thought and viewpoints as more than anything its about how we look after mankind in the world we live in. And in this present world we live in, it has to be said not only is the Palestinian conflict one of the most saddening, but is one which conjures the most political voice. For even the most apolitical amongst us, we all have a view about whether those people who claimed their homeland after around 2000 years, were right to do so, or wrong.

I remember some years ago, before I came to Islam, I was travelling in Morocco with a young Jewish girl who told me about how her parents envisaged settling in Israel one day from the UK, as their ultimate dream. At that time all I knew about Israel was, that it was a place in the middle east which came up in the news now and again, but didn't really know why and I wasn't that bothered either. When I returned to the UK, I ambled through some news pages in a vague attempt to maybe find out about this Israel. All I read was Israel was suffering at the hands of Palestinians and Palestinians were suffering at the hands of Israelis. Seemed like another classic conflict situation with some sort of history I'd never get but I hoped, as a passing thought, that both sides would meet in the middle somewhere. Thats classic conflict mediation isn't it, even in marriages, it's all about meeting somewhere in the middle; compromise. Both sides had to do their bit.

A couple of years later, my attachment to my Muslim brethren, urged me to read up on the history of Palestine and Israel. I read about a group of people homeless in Europe. I read about them set their eyes on a land they not only wanted to live in, but rule over. I read about them coming into Palestine and throwing people out of their homes, bulldozing them down and making people refugees in their own land. I read about bloodshed, I read about their domination, occupation spreading like a infectious disease. I read about their sophisticated missiles and tanks, whose design, manufacture was aided in Britain and America; massacre families, and the resistance of the Palestinians named as terrorism. Palestinians who grew up generation after generation in the muddy squalor of refugee camps in their own land attempted to fight this occupation with whatever they had. I read it all. Then came the wall, the blockades and the intense attacks of the last few days.

This was Israel. This was occupation, domination and suffering to the nth degee whilst the world watched, calling it deeply saddening and terribly appalling, but never wrong.

There have been many demos over the last few days, asking Israel to stop the attacks - and despite news reports saying that they won't until Hamas does, we must be slightly loopy if we ever believe they will put an end to their agenda which has been ruthlessly undertaken over the past century. And the West - they will never verbalise Israel's cruelty, as they are the ones who set the cannon loose and gave the go-ahead all those years ago. It's a silence that will never be broken in Washington or London, and if we don't own up to this, we continue to leave the suffering Palestinians stranded in a problem which has been sugarcoated and sold to us as a solution through roadmaps and ceasefires.

The solution lies in a place which we don't always look. Like a action-packed thriller, where the director misguides you into thinking who the killer is, masking the real one in order to create that all breath-taking twist, the Muslims will also face their twist. The realisation that sustainable change can only come from the solution Allah SWT gives us for our politics. Lobbying MPs, pressuring Israel, all these things serve to divert us from the real solution - the armies of the Muslim lands - who did they stand to defend? The thousands and thousands of people, weaponry who make up the Muslim armies - where and for what reason do they stand idle?
Allah SWT will ask the rulers of the Muslim world, where were their ears and their eyes as the missiles fell, one after the other? These rulers we know prefer to shake the hands of the perpetrators than straighten them, in order to keep their seats of power. But Allah Almighty is the owner of the Heavens and the Earth, and it is He who can destroy all 50+ of them and their kingdoms in a fell swoop and one day InshaAllah He will. There will come a day, as Allah SWT has promised where just Islamic rule will return to this Earth and liberate all the oppressed. This is the only solution which can pool together the resources of the Muslim world, and create the unity to enable a resistance which stands to the likes as those of Israel. This is the solution which doesn't accept a few Palestinian homes being returned, or a few Palestinians being allowed to work - This is the solution which will return an uncompromising rule of law which favours no race, only justice, to the Arabian plains. I pray that we are strong enough to remember this and become part of its return, instead of busying ourselves with fruitless actions which actively ensue its delay.

Muslim rulers top list in giving gifts to the Whitehouse

Rulers of the Middle East were the biggest spenders, when it came to showering the Whitehouse with gifts. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia gave outgoing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice a $165,000 ruby and diamond necklace, earrings, bracelet and ring, along with a $170,000 flower petal motif necklace. Jordan's King Abdullah gave her an emerald and diamond ring, bracelet, necklace and earrings, made of 19-carat white gold. Its price tag is $147,000. Even junior US officials were rewarded. Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah gave deputy national security adviser Elliot Abrams a $1,435 Concord Mariner watch and Emily Harding, the director for Iran at the National Security Council, and Anita B. McBride, chief of staff to First Lady Laura Bush, each got a $2,800 sterling silver Tiffany quartz watch. These are the very same rulers who publicly oppose America’s war on terror and its support for Israel, but in private show their love and affection for American government officials.

"And when they meet those who believe, they say: We believe. But when they are alone with their Evil-ones, they say: We are really with you, we by ourselves were only mocking." [TMQ 2:14]

America to fight wars in the Muslim world for 25 years

A report released by the US Joint Forces Command this week, states that the United States is committed to fighting insurgency in the Muslim world for 25 years. Rear Admiral John Richardson said the study attempting to project global threats over the next 25 years pointed mainly in one direction. “We see that the future will contain irregular types of threats,” he said. “And we need to be able to respond to those threats and be as superior in the irregular warfare area as we are in the conventional warfare area.”The report said that Mr Gates firmly supported a deeper US commitment to counter-insurgency in Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere. What the Pentagon calls “irregular warfare” covers everything from limited conventional war, with tanks and artillery, to urban warfare fighting insurgents, and includes the need to help foreign governments with everything from army and police training to building electrical grids, water systems and effective bureaucracies, the report added. It is plainly obvious that the existing solutions adopted by the leadership of the Muslim world has only entrenched American hegemony. The Muslim ummah must redouble its efforts to re-establish the Khilafah, which is the only available exit strategy from the yoke of western colonialism.

Iran fails to live up to Ahmadinejad’s Christmas message

On 25/12/2008 President Ahmadinejad’s Christmas message was broadcasted on British television. His message called upon the world to follow the teachings of the prophets. He said, “The solution to today's problems is a return to the call of the divine Prophets. The solution to these crises is to follow the Prophets - they were sent by the Almighty for the good of humanity.” Predictably, his speech drew an angry response from human rights groups, the British public, the UK foreign office and Israel. Chief amongst their concerns was their defiant defence of western values. They collectively chided Ahmadinejad for his hatred towards homosexuals, denial of the holocaust and death to apostates. However, what was disappointing in the Muslim world was that no one chastised Ahmadinejad and Iranian leadership for refusing to implement Islam in its entirety, and failing to follow the Sunnah of the messenger (s.a.w) of Allah. The man-made Iranian laws, and Iran’s blind obedience to international laws is tantamount to shirk and is condemned by Islam. But Ahmadinejad has conveniently overlooked this matter during his tenure as Iranian president and has chosen to tread a path of duplicity abhorred by the prophets and Islam. Allah says:

“Have you seen those who claim that they believe in that which was sent down to you and before you and they wish to go for judgement to the Taghoot while they have been commanded to reject them? But Shaytaan wishes to lead them far astray.” [4:60]

Afghans sell their children to keep alive

America’s march for freedom and democracy has deprived afghan’s of their honour, blood, life, security and now their children. Earlier this week it was revealed on British television that Afghan parents were being forced to sell their sons to wealthy women who could not have their own in order to look after their other children. Boys can fetch around $1,500 which is a large sum to poor families in the country where foreign aid goes no further than the government in Kabul. In the report, Sadiqa a rich women who bought an 8 year old boy said, “I have two aims here. First, to give this boy a bright future and a good education. And second, to save their other children. The winter's coming and I've given them money so the children don't die of hunger.” In response the boy’s father said,” I sold a piece of my heart to stop my four other children dying of hunger. I don't have an elder son. I'm also sick. My kidney is failing. My body is in pain.”

Pakistan may agree to a surgical strike by India

Shortly after the visit of Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff on 22/12/2008 to Pakistan, rumours spread in the Pakistani media that Pakistan had agreed to Indian surgical strikes. The Pakistani media reported that Mullen had asked Pakistan not to retaliate in the event of an Indian surgical strike. The reports were later vehemently denied by the Gillani government, but the government’s unwillingness to take a bold stance against India is only fuelling speculation. In fact government’s recent concession to India supports the speculators. Zadari’s pledge of no first nuclear strike, his willingness to dispatch ISI chief to India immediately after the Mumbai attacks and his apparent reluctance to block the UN resolution against Pakistan are indeed dangerous omens.

The Shariah rule on patents, copyrights & trademarks

The following is a translation from Arabic.

Protection of intellectual property: Its reality and its Shar'i rule

The idea of protecting intellectual property arose in the shade of the capitalist ideology. The industrialist capitalist nations concluded the Paris agreement for the protection of intellectual property in 1883, and the Bern agreement of 1886. Following them were no less than twenty other agreements. Then the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) was founded to oversee these agreements and guard them. In 1995 the World Trade Organisation adopted the idea of protecting intellectual property and so WIPO became part of the WTO. Thus, the WTO stipulated to the states that wished to join it that they must comply with the protection of intellectual property and pass laws binding on their citizens so as to protect the intellectual property in their lands.

The laws of protecting the intellectual property, which the states have passed, give the individual the right to protect his invention and grant him the power to dispose of it and prevent others from using this invention without his permission. The states undertake the protection of this right and punish anyone who may transgress it during the lifetime of the individual, and tens of years after his death. The protection laws also include the "inventor" companies.

What is meant by the invented product is the idea or knowledge, which a person's mind has arrived at which, has not been discovered by anyone before. The most significant inventions are regarding the knowledge used in manufacture and production of goods and services, which is known today as 'Technology'.

That is why the capitalists considered individual/private knowledge as wealth that is subject to ownership. It cannot be used freely by the one whom comes to know about it or learns it except by the permission or bequest of its owner according to certain measures. So if a person buys a book disk or cassette whose patent is protected, he has the right to benefit from only the copy he has bought within certain limits such as reading or listening. He will be warned, according to the laws of intellectual protection, from using them in other areas such as printing, copying, selling or trading.

What are the Shari'ah rules relating to the private ownership of assets and thoughts?

Islam has organised the private ownership by considering it an aspect of the survival instinct. Thus, it legitimised ownership for the Muslim to satisfy this instinct which will insure survival and a respectable life. Therefore, it allowed him to own most assets such as cattle, houses and the produce of the land. It forbade him from owning certain assets such as alcohol, pork and drugs.

Similarly, Islam encouraged him to use his intellect and seek knowledge and permitted him to receive payment for teaching others. It legislated means that permit ownership such as selling, hiring and inheritance. It forbade him from other means such as usury, gambling and sale by speculation.

Ownership in Islam, generally speaking, is the permission of the Legislator to benefit from the asset. As for the private ownership: it is a Shar'i rule valued by the asset or the benefit ascribed to the individual, thus enabling him to benefit from the asset itself or taking a compensation for it. Private ownership in Islam cannot be asserted as valid unless proven by the Shar'i rule, and approved of its means of ownership. Thus, the right to own a thing does not arise from the thing itself or from the fact that it is beneficial. Rather it only arises from the permission of the Legislator to own it by one of the legitimate means of ownership, such as selling or receiving a gift.

Islam has given the individual authority over the thing that he owns. It enabled him to freely dispose of it and benefit from what he owns according to the Shar'i rules. It also obliged the state to protect private ownership. It laid down punishments to deter those who infringe upon the ownership of others.

The new definition of intellectual property includes two types of private ownership. One of them is sensed and tangible such as a trademark and a book. The second is sensed but not tangible such as a scientific theory and an idea of an invention stored in the brain of a scientist.

If the ownership is of the first type such as the permitted trade mark. Then it is allowed for the individual to own it and benefit from it by utilising it or selling it. The state is obliged to protect this right of the individual. He will be able to freely dispose of it, and others will be prevented from infringing upon this right.

This is because the trademark has a material value in Islam since it is part of the trade allowed by the Shar'a. The trademark is an invented sign placed by the trader or manufacturer on his products to distinguish them from the products of others, which assists the purchasers or consumers to recognise them. This definition does not include the trademarks that have not been used yet. This is different from what some laws have defined them as: "Any mark that was used or was intended to be used".

This is because the value of the trademark results from it being part of an existing trade. It is allowed for a person to sell his trademark. If he sells it to someone else its benefit and disposal transfer to the new owner.

However, if the intellectual ownership is of the second type such as the scientific theory or the idea of an invention. The owner has not written down on paper or recorded on a disk or cassette, then it is the individual ownership of its owner. It is allowed for him to sell it or inform someone else about it if it has a value in Islam. If he does that then it is allowed for the one who possesses it to legitimately dispose of it without any restriction from the first owner according to the rules of the Shar'a. This rule also applies to anyone who buys a book, disk or cassette, which contains an intellectual subject, whether scientific or literary. He also has the right to read it and benefit from whatever information that may be in it. He has the right to dispose of it by copying, selling or donating it to someone.

However, he is not allowed to ascribe the scientific subject to anyone other than the one who originated it, otherwise he would have made a lie and forgery both of which are prohibited by the Shar'a. Thus, the right of respecting the intellectual property is an ethical right which is realised when the thought is ascribed to the one who originated it and not by preventing others from using it without his permission. This ethical right realises a moral right. However the capitalists concentrate, in all their actions and laws, on realising the material value, for it is the measure of their ideology in life. They even used the moral, humanitarian and spiritual values, which are instinctual in man, to realise the material value. Thus, as a result, they have drowned the world in evil and decay.

As for the conditions which have been stipulated by secular laws, and which allowed the authors of books, programs, and inventors to stipulate in the name of intellectual protection such as the publishing rights, and the patent on an invention. There are not Shar'i (legitimate) conditions and one is not obliged to adhere to them. This is because the requirements of the contract of sale in Islam, just as it gives the purchaser the right to own it also gives him the right to dispose of what he owns. Any condition that contradicts the requirements of the contract of sale, the purchaser is free not to observe it freely even if there are a hundred conditions. A'isha (RA) narrated: That Buraira

came (to 'A'isha) and said, "I have made a contract of emancipation with my masters for nine ounces (of gold) to be paid in yearly instalments. Therefore, I seek your help." 'A'isha said, "If your masters agree, I will pay them the sum at once and free you on condition that your Wala' (loyalty) will be for me."

Buraira went to her masters, but they refused that offer. She (came back) and said, "I presented to them the offer but they refused, unless the Wala' (loyalty) was for them." A'isha (RA) mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (saw) so he said, "Do (it)" so she did. The Prophet (saw then got up and gave a speech to people, where he glorified and praised Allah, and said, "What about some people who impose conditions which are not present in the Book of Allah? So, any condition which is not present in the Book of Allah is invalid. Allah's ordinance is more deserving, and Allah's condition is more firm. Verily, the Wala is for the liberator." The wording (Mantooq) of the hadith indicates that the condition which contradicts what is in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger should not be adhered to. As long as the conditions of protecting intellectual property make the use of the sold asset restricted to one sort of benefit to the exclusion of another, then they are invalid conditions and contrary to what is in the Book of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of His Messenger (saw). This is because it contradicts the requirement of the Shar'i contract of selling, which enables the purchaser to freely dispose of and benefit from the asset in any legitimate manner such as selling, trade, gift etc. The conditions which prohibit the Halal are invalid due to his (saw) saying: "The Muslims are bound by their conditions except a condition which forbids the Halal or permits a Haram." Therefore, it is not allowed in the Shar'a to protect publishing rights, copyrights and patents. Rather they are permissible rights. Thus, the thinker, scholar or inventor of a program owns his knowledge as long as his knowledge is with him and he has not taught it to others. However, once the knowledge went out to others through teaching, selling etc then the knowledge is no more his property. This is because it went out from his ownership when he sold it. So he does not possess the right to prevent others from freely disposing of it after its ownership has transferred to them through a shari'a means such as selling or other means.

As for the Fatwa which some computer disks hold stating is that: "It is not allowed to copy programmes which their owners, except with their permission due to his (saw) saying: "The Muslims are bound by their conditions." And his (saw) saying: "It is not allowed to take the wealth of a Muslim without his permission." And his (saw) saying: "Whosoever got a permitted thing ahead of others he is more entitled to it." The error of their fatwa comes from their generalisation of the expression 'their conditions' without specifying it to the exclusion made by the Messenger (saw) when he said: “except a condition which forbids a Halal.”

The last two hadiths have no relevance to the subject because of the subject of the hadith : "It is not allowed to take the wealth of a Muslim man...” Its reality is the wealth of others, while the computer disk has actually become the property of the purchaser. As for the other hadith: "Whosoever discovers a permitted thing first he is more entitled to it." Its subject is the public property like the hadith: "Mina (a Hajj site) is the abode (halting place) of the one who reaches (there) first", whilst the computer disk is a private property.

Indeed, the laws of protecting intellectual property are one of the styles of economic and cultural colonialism imposed by the capitalist superpowers on the states of the world and its peoples via the World Trade Organisation. So after these nations had gained ownership of technology, which is the knowledge relating to industry, and production of goods and services, they imposed their laws to hoard this knowledge and prevent other nations from benefiting from them, thus keeping their land's consumer markets for their products and so these nations subject to their influence, stealing their wealth and resources in the name of investment and globalisation.
Indeed, the Islamic Ummah is at the top of the list of the targeted nations. This is because the Kuffar know the strength of this Ummah and the danger to them if she returns to her ideology of Islam. Thus, they imposed on her their secular laws, like the law of protecting intellectual property and others to prevent her from the means of power and to distance her from her ideology. Accordingly the Muslims must understand the danger of the secular laws to their Deen and life. This is because the aim of these laws is to hoard the scientific knowledge and prevent others from benefiting of it. It is also to prevent them from reviving on the basis of Islam. Thus the Muslims are obliged to reject these laws and not adhere to them for they are not from Islam and were legislated to cause them harm.

It is incumbent on the Muslims to sacrifice every life and soul in order to re-establish the Khilafah State which will restore to them their power, unity and strength. Thus, they will be able rescue the world from the abyss of decline and from the capitalist colonisation and bring them to the justice of Islam.

He (swt) said:

“He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad [saw]) with the guidance and the religion of truth to make it victorious over all other Deens (ways of life) even though the mushrikeen hate it.” [As-Saff: 9]

Analysis: Ethopia, Somalia & Pirates

The following Q&A is based on a translation of an Arabic article taken from the website of the Ameer of Hizb ut-Tahrir, Sheikh Ata Ibn Khaleel Abu Al-Rishta. The original Arabic article can be viewed here.

An Ethiopian official has announced that Ethiopia has decided to withdraw their armed forces from Somalia by the end of this year. This statement comes in the wake of substantially increased piracy activities in the Gulf of Aden along the Somali coastline during recent months, which has increased dramatically in the past few days with the hijacking of a Saudi tanker containing some two million barrels of crude oil onboard.

At the same time, the media carried a statement by Abdullah Yousuf, the transitional President of Somalia wherein he said that Al-Shabaab - Mujahideen Youth Movement of Somalia controls most of the country and that they are on the verge of taking over the capital Mogadishu. Ethiopia, having suffered huge losses in Somalia is only grudgingly staying put for now.

News agencies have broadcast a statement by the Foreign Minister of Ethiopia at the IGAD countries' foreign ministers' conference held in Addis Ababa on November 18th 2008 where he said: "I want to stress again and make it very clear that the Ethiopian forces are not prepared to continue to take the costly responsibility indefinitely and it is important to send the correct message to the Somali leaders at this crucial juncture."

Does this indicate the frustration of the American allies who are fighting on behalf of the US in Somalia and their inability to hold on anymore?

How is the so-called ‘Djibouti Accord' signed on 26th October 2008 relevant to this issue?

Finally, are such nation groups in a position to influence the organisation technically and militarily, or are the big powers behind them?

Yes, indeed piracy related activity has increased considerably in the recent past and keeping this in mind, we can note the following:

1. The majority of the ships hijacked have either been European or owned by other countries, but no American ship has so far been hijacked and they continue to work there without any interruption.

News agencies reported on 17th November 2008 a statement by Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, who said that the pirates were highly trained and any military action (against them) would only endanger the safety of the hostages.

Commander Jane Campbell, spokeswoman of the US Navy's 5th Fleet, told the BBC on 18th November 2008 it had warned shipping companies that the US naval presence could "not be everywhere", adding: "For that reason we have strongly encouraged proactive self-protection measures for the companies."

She said in another statement reported by Al-Arabiyyah on 19th November 2008 that they do not intend to intervene in the matter since these activities are not of a military nature rather they are criminal activities.

The BBC website reported on 20th November 2008 a statement by the Pentagon spokesman Jeff Morell who said that even if all naval power were to be deployed in the region, the problem would not be solved.

2. There has been a heavy presence of foreign naval warships in the Gulf of Aden and along the Somalian coastline. There are ships from the US Navy Fifth Fleet. NATO which decided last month on 9th October 2008 to send naval forces to the region also has warships. The European Union decided on 10th November to launch a British-led anti-piracy armada off the Horn of Africa called Operation Atalanta. Its mission is to protect water ways south of the Red Sea from Pirate attacks, and will be coordinated at Northwood, Britain's joint operation headquarters, under the command of Rear Admiral Phil Jones. At least seven ships, including the frigate HMS Northumberland, will take part in the mission.

Even before this latest deployment, a naval task force of between 12 to 15 warships has been deployed in the region as part of Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150) a multinational coalition against piracy. Despite all these efforts, piracy in the region has increased.

3. We believe that the Europeans and especially the French, rushed rather frantically and responded to the events. You can see them forming one force after another. Also, they were behind the UN Security Council resolution No. 1816 of 2nd June 2008 which allowed naval warships to enter Somali territorial waters to prevent piracy and armed attacks on ships. This was to remain effective for a period of 6 months and could be extended. This UNSC resolution was passed on the initiative of France.

It was reported on 16th November 2008 by the AFP that Bernard Kouchner, the French Foreign Minister proposed carrying out air and naval strikes in December in order to protect the region south of the Red Sea, i.e. the Gulf of Aden & the coast line of Somalia from the pirates.

AFP also reported a statement from Rear Admiral Hubert de Gaullier des Bordes, Commander of French naval forces in the Indian Ocean who stressed that piracy in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea had become a real and professional paramilitary force. Germany also called for carrying out military operations in the region. Then on 20th November 2008 the UNSC unanimously passed the resolution at Europe's behest co-drafted by Britain. This resolution called for penalising those who assist in the spreading of the menace of lawlessness and violence in the Somali territories and coastline including piracy.

4. On 18th November 2008, Al-Jazeera reported that Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, Chairman of the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS) Djibouti wing, spoke of his surprise at the increase in the piracy-related incidents despite the presence of fleets of warships of the major powers in the region. The Sheikh added that this ‘mystery' was beyond comprehension.

On the same day, Al-Jazeera in its programme ‘Meet Today' quoted Sheikh Omar Iman Abu Bakr, Chairman of the ARS Asmara Wing, said that piracy is the handiwork of the Americans. He said that it is well known that there are a large number of US ships present along the Somali coast and yet piracy continues right under their noses. In fact the pirates are being trained by US forces and they hijack ships laden with goods for Somalia and other places under the eyes of the US.

5. From all these facts, we are able to conclude the following:

Firstly, the Americans have failed to achieve victory in Somalia. The US army failed miserably during its invasion of Somalia in 1993. They were unable to stay for more than 18 months before turning their backs in humiliation. Ethiopia fought a proxy war in Somalia on behalf of the US but like its master it has now abandoned its camps. Hence it is unlikely that the US would win a war in Somalia in the foreseeable future at least.

Subsequent to this defeat, the Americans decided to achieve a diplomatic and political victory through tricky negotiations. They aimed to form a unity regime through make-believe harmony between the government of Abdullah Yousuf and the Islamic Courts. Though the US has succeeded in bringing together the Djibouti wing of the Islamic Courts and Abdullah Yousuf who signed an accord on 26th October 2008, it is unlikely that this treaty would serve its purpose because of the resistance of Al-Shabaab to this infamous accord. Al-Shabaab controls vast portions of Somalia and as Abdullah Yousuf himself has conceded, they are on the verge of entering the Capital itself. It is known that this movement broke away from the Asmara and Djibouti wings of the Islamic Courts after they signed the Asmara Accord in September 2007. Al-Shabaab accused both wings of the Islamic Courts of aligning with the secularists and abandoning Jihad in the path of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.

Thus the US failed to achieve a military victory or even a political victory in Somalia.

Having failed to achieve victory in Somalia, the Americans then decided to focus on controlling the region through the seas. They made the Somali coast and the Gulf of Aden as centres for hijacking international ships especially the European ones, and thus engaging them in these pirate incidents. This, according to the Americans will be Europe's ‘nightmare' which will ‘relieve‘ the Americans of their earlier defeat on the Somali soil. The US would then control the horn of Africa through the seas and then proceed on the shores. Thus this piracy facade is in their terms, a 'creative' way to get involved in the regional politics of the Middle East.

Subsequently, through this maritime turmoil, they hope to achieve their goal of exercising control over the Bab el-Mandeb in the Gulf of Aden on both sides, i.e. the Yemeni side as well as the Djibouti side. This will in future enable them to have control over Somalia again. Thus having engaged the Europeans in the piracy turmoil, and driving away their navy, they will be in complete control over the land as well as the Red Sea. It must be appreciated that this sensitive region is economically and strategically a vital region since a third of all crude oil as well as one tenth of sea transported goods pass through this region.

Secondly, the US stance on the issue of piracy is that of indifference while the Europeans who have suffered losses are highly concerned. The Americans regard these as merely ordinary criminal acts and not terrorist acts which merit military action. They consider any military action against pirates as either ineffective or undesirable, not only that, they also hold that even if all the countries were to unite, they would not be able to restrict piracy.

This stance of America has also influenced its agents in the region. In the meeting of the five Arabian littoral states (countries with a coast) held in Cairo on 20th November 2008, Egypt tried to assemble a communiqué which referred to respecting Somali territory and its territorial waters during any military operation against piracy. This is diametrically opposed to the French view which supports taking military action beyond international borders and coastlines.

This is the US stance on piracy, as opposed to the Europeans who regard it as a paramilitary activity and as Sarkozy describes it, a real crime, which must be dealt with through comprehensive military action against it during the next month.

Thirdly, America has not shut its eyes with regard to Djibouti. It has tried and continues to try and consolidate its hold there. However, France regards Djibouti as its main centre in the region. Djibouti has the largest overseas French base with more than 2700 French soldiers who can launch land or air operations to the very heart of Africa in order to protect French influence in the region.

France is aware of American designs on Djibouti and has permitted the US to use its old military base Camp Lemonier where America has placed less than a thousand of its soldiers. Through this gesture, France hopes to limit US's aspirations on Djibouti. However, the Americans have other designs on this base. They hope to expand it to accommodate some two thousand troops under the guise of fighting terrorism. In fact it was under this pretext that they first obtained France's permission to enter the base.

The newspaper Asharq Alawsat on 28th October 2008 quoted the French Defence Minister as saying that the United States aimed to use this as their rear base to fight terrorism and added that the American presence was not permanent but was linked to fighting terror. He then stressed that the French presence was permanent. This statement indicates that there is a certain amount of apprehension about the French withdrawal and continued American presence in Djibouti. Though the French Defence Minister merely alluded to it, a senior French military official clearly stated in the same newspaper on the same day, "by deploying its forces in Djibouti, America aims to ensure its permanent presence in the horn of Africa in the hotbeds of conflict in Yemen, Somalia and even Sudan."

Also part of the US agenda is to establish a permanent base in Aden just as Britain once did, so that the US can launch operations to consolidate its influence in Yemen. This is why Yemen is apprehensive of the recent developments. On 18th November 2008, Al-Jazeera reported a statement by Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, the Yemeni Foreign Minister wherein he expressed his concern over the concentration of Western countries naval fleets in the Gulf of Aden under the pretext of fighting piracy. The Yemeni Foreign Minister regarded this presence as a threat to Arab security, and considered the ships deployment as internationalising the Red Sea.

It is this American aspiration on Djibouti and Aden that it has begun to ‘terrorise' the international and European ships in order to engage them in terms of security and then ease them out of the region or at least reduce their presence.

Thus the issue of piracy is linked to two points - the internal situation in Somalia, and the control over the Gulf of Aden and the Somali coastal region. It must be noted that the US is allowing piracy incidents to occur whilst it is present on the seas as its eyes are set on the horn of Africa. At the same time, Europe is committed to securing its interests and preventing piracy even if that involves taking military action.

We can conclude from all of this that piracy is thriving in the region because of America.

Finally, it hurts to see the Red Sea and the Somali coast becoming a haven for the kufr colonialist nations while the region's Islamic lands are suffering. At the same, the Muslim regimes around the Red Sea and the Somali coastline have their hands stained with Muslim blood and have merely become tools of the kufr countries in their conflict over the hegemony in the lands, waters and airspace of the Muslims.

Truly, these rulers are akin to beasts and indeed the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said the truth when he warned:

«يأتي على الناس سنوات خداعات... وينطق في الناس الرويبضة قالوا وما الرويبضة يا رسول الله قال الرجل التافه يتكلم في أمر العامة»
"The people will be faced with years of deceptions....and the beasts (ruwaibidah) will speak for them. The companions asked him who are the beasts (ruwaibidah), he said: a trivial stupid person will speak on people's matters."

Who grins while Pakistan burns?

In the aftermath of Mumbai attacks, Pakistan has emerged as the new Bogeyman for the people living in the West.

While Delhi has been blaming Pakistan for sponsoring a mass murder, a vicious campaign has been launched by the Western media against Pakistan. Accusations are also made by the US and her allies by condemning Pakistan in the context of the Mumbai attacks. And once again Pakistan is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

And while this melodrama of Indian and western media continues, a very basic and simple question that a reasonable man would think of has never been answered: Why ISI or Pakistan based militant organisation would be interested in face saving of Indian army by murdering ATS chief Hemant Karkare, who had already exposed links between right wing Hindu groups and the Malegaon and Samjhuta express incidents, and was in middle of the investigation that was set to expose the secret links between the Hindu terrorists and Indian Army?

A sinister game is being played here that is reaffirmed as Delhi's claims were fully endorsed by the United States and Britain. A carefully orchestrated and well formulated strategy is practised to shape the international opinion regarding Pakistan. Ignoble mention of Pakistani nukes, defamatory statements regarding Pakistan army and her premier spy agency ISI and declaration of Pakistan as the biggest threat to the world security are just a few examples of how well the script written in Washington DC is being executed.

The reality is that Indian accusations are nothing but a pathetic attempt to deflect attention from the plain and obvious failure of the Indian system in looking after its own citizens. India is a country that is beset by ethnic and sectarian strife which has the potential to implode in to a serious threat to India's territorial integrity.

But Pakistan government's decision to clamp down on Jamat ut Dawaa without any evidence only strengthens the Indian claims and plays into the hands of the anti Pakistan propaganda machines.

Gen. David Petraeus, head of CENTCOM, recently said Mumbai attacks were of more significance for Pakistan than India as these attacks comprehended the magnitude of challenges confronting Pakistan. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown also blindly accepted India's version of events and showed absolute support for the Indian position by blaming Pakistan for not clamping down on extremism. US senator John Kerry said this Monday that ISI must be tightly controlled and not allowed to act independently.

It is quite clear now that America, together with India and Britain, is building up a case against Pakistan. Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, used the Mumbai incident as a pre-text to accuse Pakistan being the epicentre of terrorism and demanded that Pakistan must close down the terror camps. US Senator John McCain during his recent visit to Pakistan is believed to have threatened Pakistan with the surgical air strikes if Pakistan did not comply to New Delhi's demands.

There were also reports linked with unnamed Indian officials that India is considering a move to launch punitive air strikes to target terror camps in MureedKeh and Muzaffarabad. On 13/12/2008 it was witnessed that two Indian jets entered Pakistan from eastern Lahore and Kashmir Sector. These violations of air space by Indian Air Force were confirmed by the Pakistan Air Force and PAF spokesman stated that the Indian aircrafts intruded up to 4 Km inside Pakistan territory. These stunts were performed by the Indian Air Force to test the readiness and preparations of PAF, according to PAF Air Commodore (Retd.) Jamal Hussein. But according to President Zardari, these violations were a technical mistake on part of IAF to fly jets loaded with weapons and explosives inside Pakistan. One can only feel pity for Mr. Zardari who has lost the sense of generating thinking and reaching to obvious conclusions.

Some weeks ago, Mr. Zardari also labelled Kashmiris who are opposed to Indian rule as terrorists. This outrageous move was aimed to distance Pakistan from the 70,000 Muslims of Kashmir who gave away their life for the cause of freedom and many more who are still living with a hope that one day they will be liberated from Indian aggression. This statement from Mr. Zardari sparked mammoth rallies throughout held-Kashmir and for the first time in the history of Kashmiri struggle, it was witnessed that the effigies of a Pakistani leader were burned.

On the geopolitical front, it is now quite evident that for the US, the focal point and the real war is not in Iraq but along the Durrand line in sub-continent as noted by Obama and his strategic gurus. Right wing Hindu parties are gaining popularity in India as a result of Mumbai attacks. BJP, a party of radical Hindu secularists, which cashed in the Kargil incident after 1999 in the general elections, is now again busy in raising the stakes so that it can capitalize on Mumbai attacks. America is overstretched in Iraq and failing in Afghanistan and the economic downturn at home only complicates the situation for her. Now the new circumstances will compel America to hasten the process of making India a regional power. But that requires settlement of Kashmir issue in such a way that favours India. Indian dominance in the region in the short run will help US to ease financial and military burden by the arrival of 100,000 troops that India is ready to despatch to Afghanistan. In the long term, for America the Indian dominance means combating China's rising influence in the global politics. Indian Military presence in Afghanistan will also help America to pressurise Pakistan to maintain its involvement in the unpopular war on terror.

But for America to proceed with her plans for India, a strong Pakistan army is the biggest hurdle. The Islamic elements within Pakistan army are continuously resisting America's attempts to give away Kashmir to India. And India cannot in any situation afford to lock horns with Pakistan militarily. Even America knows that without Pakistan's cooperation, she cannot stay in Afghanistan. So America and India have resorted to other means to malign Pakistan army to make it weak and for past several months they have paced up their efforts in this regard. Tactics employed by Delhi and Washington includes accusing Pakistan of playing double game and supporting Jihadi organisations, and moving of a resolution in the UN to label retired High Ups from Pakistan Army as terrorist to disgrace Pakistan military on the international forum. Indian agencies involvement in Baluchistan is also well known where they are working to weaken Pakistan from inside. Whereas, America has waged an undeclared war on Pakistan as it continues to launch hell fire missiles from CIA controlled unmanned aircrafts inside Pakistan. It is in the interest of both America and India to keep the fire alive in Pakistan and they are doing pretty well.

Instead of Pakistan, it is Washington and Delhi that is playing double game. War mongering propaganda machines have sharpened their knives for Pakistan that exposes the mindset of policy makers in the West. The same pattern was followed when America waged a war on Iraq on the basis of fabricated evidence. Now yet again the notorious terms such as weapons of mass destruction are floated in the media but this time the target is Pakistan. And in recent days Pakistan has also been given titles once reserved for Iraq, like a rogue and failed state by many a think tanks.

And now after Mumbai incident, as the events are unfolding, it is like déjà vu. Just some years ago, after 9/11 a call from Washington DC changed the fortune of hundreds of thousands of people living in the South Asia. And that call was made by US Secretary of State Colin Powell to Pervez Musharraf who is to go down in history as the Pakistani Gorbachev. It was that time when Musharraf traded Pakistan's sovereignty by submitting to the American pressure that has unleashed a doom in Pakistan resulting in countless civilian deaths and more than 1,400 Pakistani troops also died in the process.

But this time around in 2008, it is Delhi that is exerting pressure on Pakistan to bow down. The Democratic regime of Zardari has performed exceptionally well in continuing the policies of the Dictator Musharraf and this suggests that Zardari's response to the mounting pressure is easily and accurately predictable. The truth is that NRO beneficiary leadership is impotent and is on the same page with Washington and her cronies. It is the failure of Pakistan's political leadership to address growing problems that have left Pakistan in a catastrophic situation as it continues its slide into further chaos.

The situation is continuously deteriorating for Pakistan and the leadership of Pakistan has done nothing to change the course. Rather the PPP led government is singing the mantra that there is nothing we can do except act as we are told by the Washington and accept the US hegemony.

Whereas, the reality is such that Pakistan can change her fortune in matter of days provided there is a sincere leadership that has vision and a ruling system that is in accordance to the whims and desires of ordinary residents and that emanates from the creed that they carry. Now is the time for Pakistan to adopt a firm and dignified approach to counter the existential threats it faces today.

Pakistan is providing 80% of the fuel used by American war machine in Afghanistan. The US is using almost 575,000 gallons of fuel every day. And if Pakistan halts this supply from her refineries then the only alternative source would be a precarious supply route through rugged Central Asia thus effectively crippling the US military. There is no doubt that once Pakistan decides to abandon America it would only be a matter of days that America would have to pack up and leave from Afghanistan. This would enable Pakistan to regain the strategic advantage she had before 9/11.

Pakistan is also self-sufficient on natural gas and has huge reservoirs of coal and minerals. According to Pakistan Economy Watch, only the coal deposits in Thar can change the fate of the country if utilized in a proper way. Dr Murtaza Mughal president of Pakistan Economy Watch in a statement said that 185 billion tonnes of coal worth USD 25 trillion can not only cater the electricity requirements of the country for next 100 years but also save almost four billion dollars in staggering oil import bill annually, reduce unemployment and help strengthen the economy. This amount of coal would equal 615 billion barrels of oil. Changes are also required to be made at the macro and micro level of economic policies if woes of the masses are to be answered.

All Pakistan needs is a new leadership and a new system that has a political will to bring about the change. And that new system is none other than the very reason Pakistan was created for. Pakistan must realise her true potential and rise up to the occasion by realising the dream of becoming a true Islamic state i.e. Khilafah, A Khilafah that lead the world for more than 12 centuries and brought prosperity not only to Muslims but to humanity in general.

Britain throws more money at fighting Islam in the communities

On 10/12/2008 Britain’s Home Secretary; Jacqui Smith said that the government's counter-terrorism strategy had to extend to challenging non-violent extremist groups that "skirt the fringes of the law ... to promote hate-filled ideologies". She urged local authorities and the police to tackle extremist groups that were targeting mosques and community centres to create the idea that being Muslim and being British were incompatible. She also announced that a further £13.8m would be made available to disrupt radicalisers, challenge the rhetoric of extremists and support vulnerable individuals locally. The failure of Britain and other western countries to prevent Muslims from turning to Islam comes as no surprise. The failure stems from the inability western liberalism to convince young Muslim minds that it has the capacity to provide cogent solutions for mankind. The spectacular collapse of the free market will only accentuate this perception amongst young Muslims living in Britain.

Germany attacks Britain’s EU stimulus plan

On 11/12/08 Steffen Kampeter, the budget spokesman for Ms Merkel's Christian Democrats, said, ”After years of lecturing us on how we need to share in the gains of uncontrolled financial markets, the Labour politicians can't now expect us to share in its losses. The tremendous amount of debt being offered by Britain shows a complete failure of Labour policy." Kampeter’s remarks are just some of the comments expressed by German politicians with regards to Britain’s proposal to get European countries to throw more money at their economies by borrowing more money. Earlier in the week, Germany’s finance minister ridiculed British proposals. He said, “The speed at which proposals are put together under pressure that don't even pass an economic test is breathtaking and depressing.” The dispute between the two countries is based upon the different nature of the economies. Britain by and large is a service base economy—especially financial services— with very little manufacturing output and requires large injections of cash to offset recession. Germany has a powerful manufacturing and industrial base at the heart of its economy and requires incremental economic solutions. However, in both economies, reducing in interest rates and taxes are the standard means of increasing money supply and kick starting economic growth.

US proposes draft resolution to hunt Islamists in Somalia

On 10/12/2008 the US presented a draft resolution before the UN Security Council calling for stronger measures against Somali pirates. The American-drafted resolution proposes countries should be able to pursue pirates onto land if necessary, provided that the Somali government agrees. In June 2008, the UN Security Council passed a resolution permitting countries operating with the consent of Somalia's transitional government to go into Somalia's territorial waters and use force to capture pirates. America’s latest proposal coincides with the declaration by the African Union of troop withdrawal from Somalia and the inability of the pro-American Somalia’s transitional government to extend its writ both over land and its coastal waters. Leading up to the latest US proposal, American efforts to curb piracy off Somalia's coastline have been extremely poor. So far 120 attacks have been reported in 2008, and at least 16 ships are still being held, including a Saudi tanker. By stoking fears of an immediate pullout of African peace keepers, America is hoping that the proposals receive wide support. If adopted, the new proposals from America’s perspective will do little to stop the piracy. Rather, America covets international legitimacy to seek and destroy the Islamists who oppose its surrogate transitional government in Somalia. Fighting pirates is a mere pretext to accomplish this aim.

Saudi’s favours non-Muslims to redevelop Mecca

This week British architect Lord Foster was embroiled in religious and political controversy about a multimillion-pound project to redevelop Mecca. Leaked reports suggest that the Saudi government has favoured infidels to partake in the project. A report by the Saudi British Bank, estimated this year that £15 billion would be invested by foreign and Saudi companies in construction and infrastructure in Mecca by 2012. Homes and hills are to be replaced by about 130 skyscrapers, including the Abraj al-Bait Towers, which is to be one of the biggest buildings in the world. The seven towers will include a 2,000-room hotel, a convention centre big enough for 1,500 people, heliports and a four-storey shopping mall. According to The Architects' Journal the first part of the project will increase the capacity of the Al haram from 900,000 to 1.5 million. Once the scheme is completed capacity for the district should be 3 million. The proposals have been split into two. Foster & Partners, which is headed by Lord Foster, is one of ten practices that will look at alternatives for the northern expansion of the Haram mosque. In the past Western companies have redeveloped parts of Mecca. Ten years ago United Automation, a Los Angeles company, won a bid to rewire the sound system in the masjids of Mecca. After all, if the Saudi’s can invite the Americans to station their troops in the Arabian peninsula and wage war against Iraq, actively provide money and intelligence to spill Muslim blood then the matter of Mecca’s reconstruction by infidels is a small matter for them.

Are we all advocates of terrorists?

One 2nd December 2008, Nazeer Naji wrote a column in Urdu, published in Jang which can be accessed at Though the article omits the mention of the very recent Mumbai attacks, it can’t go unnoticed that it has been written in the very backdrop of it. Not only is the context in which it is written around ‘terrorism’, but its title, body and the final conclusive remarks are all unambiguously about terrorism and that’s why I wonder whether this omission was deliberate or unintentional. The article first takes us back in history and while depicting what role institutional influences played in alienating the Bangladeshi people before 1971, the author equates the actions taken by the then Pakistani regime and Army to terrorism like we see it in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq today by the so-called Islamists. He goes even further and claims that the partition of East Pakistan was justified and done in the name of Islam and patriotism “uss waqt bhi hum ne Islam aur hubul-watni ke naam par un dehshatgardon ki waqalat hote dekhi”. This, I must say is not only a gross misrepresentation of facts, but also is a very contradictory duo of words, packed together in one sentence. Patriotism is a very base emotion which, like nationalism, is divisive in essence, uniting only those belonging to a specific part of land to the exclusion of all others and that too only as long as there is a foreign threat. In case of nationalism, the common denominator is a specific race, tribe or ethnicity. By far, Islam is not reconcilable with these parochial ideas and actually fought and obliterated them from the hearts and minds of its followers. This is not to say that there is no history of people using Islam to justify all kinds of heinous crimes, but the fact of the matter is that the escalation of East Pakistan was not seen as an Islamic issue and in no way as one comparable to the issue of fighting occupiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, which the author is artfully suggesting.

The second anomaly which is worth pointing out is the claim that all Pakistanis are in one way or the other advocates of the terrorists (“dehshatgardon ki waqalat karne waale”) which he divides into two distinct categories, and further claims both are originating from FATA “aj fata ki kamingahon mein bethe chand dehshatgard saari dunya mein issi tarha begunahon ko marne ke mansoobe banate hein”. The first category, according to the article, is of those terrorists who carry out attacks against Westerners in their own countries and the second category is of those who carry out attacks in Muslim countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the victims are innocent Muslims. I wonder whether the author left out the third and most happening category of ‘terrorists’ who carry out attacks against Western soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan because he doesn’t consider them to be terrorists or because their mention would have weakened his case against the other two categories of terrorists. Whatever the reason, I won’t focus on what was not mentioned, even though it is that which is actually supported by the masses in all Muslim countries and most Islamic political parties. Coming to his two claims, let me pose the questions here, are the people, media, government and political parties of Pakistan, or for that matter any other Muslim country supportive of or sympathetic to the terrorists of the above mentioned two categories? Leave aside the mainstream political parties and media, even the more ‘radical’ groups and people (to the exclusion of the few mysterious ones like al-Qaeda, about which we are not even sure if they exist beyond the records and think tanks of pentagon) are never heard of rejoicing in attacks like 9/11, 7/7 or the Marriott blast! Similarly unfound is the claim that all the planning, logistics and finances are taking place in and from FATA, a region which is the least developed in any sense of the word and is being combed by Pakistani security officials, together with their American counterparts with the help of most high-tech technologies like GPS, gunship helicopters, drones and guided missiles for the last 7 long years!

Based on these baseless claims, the author is convinced that American rocket strikes in FATA are justified. He brings the escalating security situation in and around FATA as an evidence for his claim, simply ignoring the direction of causality, to his theory’s benefit. Is it not true that all this fighting erupted and worsened only after the Musharraf regime bowed down to the Americans in 2001 and agreed to fight its own people in the tribal areas under the pretext of ‘war on terror’ before which ‘suicide attack’ was an unheard of phenomenon in civilian Pakistan?

I feel deeply saddened by the fact that instead of asking where the British and Americans draw their moral, ethical and legal legitimacy to bomb and invade Iraq and Afghanistan from, he ends his article by asking about the legitimacy of fighting the occupiers and their supporters. Again, almost nobody including myself is suggesting that attacks of the above mentioned two categories are justified, but shouldn’t we expect our intellectuals to be talking about the causes of this evil rather than its symptoms?

Muslims: Guilty unless proven innocent?

I am writing this post in response to the scores of columns, editorials and op-eds which appeared in dailies across Pakistan regarding the recent attacks in Mumbai. While there were very few which tried to analyze the events and go beyond the Indian account of things, most of our writers were quick to pass judgments on supposed Pakistani involvement and sentence the perpetrators of those attacks. Frankly, while reading through all those articles, I too started feeling as if this is a closed chapter and the only thing left was to handcuff Pakistan, accept responsibility and hand out punishments to those Pakistanis who were involved and/or instigated the attacks. Externally, it was logical for countries to discuss whether the punishment should be in form of a fully fledged war or a surgical strike on Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities. In all this jingoistic mantra spelled out by the Indian media and embraced by their Pakistani counterparts, it was difficult to hold on for a second and think about the correctness and fairness of this hastily executed media trial where once again Islam was the scapegoat. But the absence of objectivity that was critically required by the media, during such emotive and politically sensitive events, didn’t allow me to go with the flow. I asked myself simple questions which I would like to share with you, but before that let me state a few facts.

All what we know about Pakistan’s involvement in the Mumbai attacks stems from either Indian media or Indian officials. No objective evidence has been brought to daylight and neither will this happen, least in the name of National Security. Pakistan and India are arch-enemies and have already fought 3 wars against each other. India has a history of inciting anti-Muslim feelings, Babri Mosque, Gujrat carnage and the Samjhota bombing are just a few to mention. Similarly, India has also a history of prematurely blaming Pakistan when attacked internally, only to be proven wrong afterwards. The recent bombing of the Malegon and Samjhota express are proof for this. It is also noteworthy that Hindu extremists, those responsible for the Babri mosque demolition, Gujrat carnage and involved in the Malegon and Samjhota express bombing, form India’s main stream political party, which was in power before the current regime and as its election year, it can’t be ruled out that they are behind the recent events. Indian army’s serving Colonel is one of the prime suspects in the Malegon bombing case with known ties with Hindu extremist groups. Also, three of the very first and most mysterious casualties of the Mumbai attacks were three police officers, Hemant Karkare, DIG Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, who were investigating the serving Colonel’s involvement in the Malegon bombing. To cut a long story short, the whole event is surrounded by lots of mysteries and open questions.

Having all this in mind, let me now come to the questions which I asked myself and I think every responsible Pakistani journalist should ask himself as well, before attempting to write on this issue.

1. Allah (swt) says in the Quran, "O you who believe! If a fasiq (liar – evil person) brings you a news, verify it, lest you harm some people in ignorance and afterward repent of what you did” [TMQ 49:6]. Shouldn’t we have dealt more skeptically and carefully with the information coming from the mouths of the mushrikeen, not just fasiqeen?

2. As both countries are arch-enemies, how can the evidence provided by one be accepted by the other without verifying it objectively? I recall reading that in the time of Ali (ra) as the Khalifah of the Muslims, he had seen a Jew steal his saddle. Ali (ra) upon catching that person took him to the court and narrated the account to the Judge (Qadhi), who rejected this as credible evidence because it was coming from the plaintiff i.e. Ali (ra)!

3. It is widely known and accepted from numerous declassified reports and former agent’s accounts that intelligence agencies launch ‘false flag’ operations in order to achieve strategic objectives, even killing their own people. Therefore, why is it that mainstream Pakistani media didn’t even bother to consider this as one explanation of the attacks, let alone a plausible one given the predictions in India that the rightwing forces will take advantage of the Mumbai tragedy in the forthcoming election. Interestingly, some Western analysts, like Wayne Madsen, a Washington DC-based investigative journalist, author and syndicated columnist, have pointed this out in context of a false flag operation, but almost none in our mainstream media did.

4. It is well known that all the evidence brought forward against Afghanistan in the wake of 9/11 (and against Iraq for possessing WMD) would not have been sufficient to indict even a thief in US courts. Same is the case with the Mumbai attacks, why is it then that we are readily accepting the Indian version of the story?

5. Even if the individuals who carried out the attacks were Muslims, this does not exonerate Indian and other intelligence agencies entirely. We have to realize that many militant groups are easy to infiltrate and motivate as they rely heavily on money – other forces can direct them for specific actions. This is what can be one explanation of 9/11 in America, where there is credible evidence that the US allowed that to happen in order to project US foreign policy. Even many non-Muslim thinkers and websites have highlighted this issue, with associated evidences. It is well known that a group to whom George Bush belongs to, called PNAC (Project for the New American Century), had been lobbying Clinton to invade Iraq since 1998 and they said on their website that America needs a catastrophic event like Pearl Harbour to project American foreign policy.

6. Whilst there is thick cloud of suspicion over the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks, there seems to be clear sky as to who has benefited and who will suffer from the attacks, but this too has not been the focus of our writers. If one was to consider the impact of those attacks, they can be summarized as
a. More pressure on Pakistan from the US and the International community and opportunity to repeat their notorious command to ‘do more’.
b. More pressure on the Muslims of India and an excuse to suppress their rights further and leave them even more helpless in case of another Gujrat like carnage in the face of rising Hindu extremism.
c. More pressure on Muslims residing in UK - though the UK link was dismissed at an early point, nonetheless it can be used as further 'proof' to squeeze the Muslim community - already dealing with 7/7 and a host of legislation targeting them – through more draconian legislation curtailing their legitimate rights of practicing Islam and self-expression.

7. Last but not least, there is no justification for blaming Islam - which is well known for its stance on innocent civilians - as a result of the actions of a few individuals. If one would just keep in mind what the Quran and Sunnah say about the sanctity of an innocent person’s life, it would be impossible to equate Islam with terror, something which has become commonplace today. Why don’t our columnists turn the tables and blame the non-implementation of Islam - in which the colonialists, both former and current surely have a big role to play - for such unfortunate events?

It seems that the age old principle of ‘innocent unless proven guilty’ has been reversed since 9/11 when it comes to Muslims. At least Muslims writers should not follow this inhumane, immoral and unethical practice of demonizing fellow brethren and Islam.

Italy floats proposal to ban the building of new mosques

On 3/12/08 a proposal by the anti-immigration party of Italian Interior Minister Roberto Maroni for a moratorium on the building of new mosques amid terrorism fears in Italy sparked outrage among Muslim leaders. The Northern League, the main ally of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, suggested the ban. “Mosques are springing up like mushrooms, and mayors can do nothing about it because there is no law,” said Roberto Cota, the head of the Northern League’s group in the Chamber of Deputies. Even the Vatican took the side of the government in a carefully worded statement. “On the one hand we need to recognise the legitimacy of the place of worship that is the seat of an authentic spiritual presence,” said the Vatican’s “culture minister” Gianfranco Ravasi. “But if it becomes something else, indeed civil society has the right to intervene and check,” he told reporters. The Vatican’s statement comes days after the Vatican thanked Muslim scholars who participated in the interfaith dialogue.

Berlusconi’s People of Freedoms party allied with the Northern League won the general elections in April 2008, largely on a security platform. They enjoy comfortable majorities in both houses of parliament and it is expected that the proposal would be passed. Italy is home to some 1.2 million Muslims and counts 258 mosques and 628 Islamic associations, according to the Italian press.

Europe and America are destroying the free market

The very fact that the US government is entertaining a $34bn rescue package for its automobile industry is a clear admission that the free market is not worth protecting anymore. Over the past year or so the US has spent trillions of dollars nationalizing banks and is now contemplating the bail out of other industries. Not to be outdone by his US counterparts, on 4/12/2008 Sarkozy pledged his belief in the free market and then announced a €26bn state aid package for French car industry. Lamenting at the Americans Sarkozy said,” If our American friends do more for their own industry, I won't let the French automobile industry be disadvantaged compared to its competitors.” Europe and America have successfully killed off freedom and democracy and now they are slaughtering the free market. Who said that Islamic terrorism was the biggest threat to Western civilization.

NATO forces relied on Black Magic to ward off the Taleban

Beaten, broken and demoralised an officer of the British army turned to black magic to protect commander of the NATO forces general Richards from the Taleban. British officer Daniel James said,” I actually did black magic for General Richards praying to God to protect him from the Taliban.” He also said he did Tarot card readings for other personnel at the Allied HQ in Kabul to predict the future. The Muslim armies do not need to seek the help of false deities to overcome the enemy or to find out about the future. In their preparation and combat they implore Allah’s help for success, and in return they are either given victory or martyrdom. Clearly, the Muslim armies have the best of this dunya and the hereafter.

UN derided by the Muslim world

On 3/12/2008 a poll conducted in the Muslim world discovered there is a strong perception that the UN is dominated by the US and there is dissatisfaction with its performance on several fronts, particularly in dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The findings are from a survey in Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Iran, Indonesia, the Palestinian Territories and Azerbaijan. Muslims in Nigeria (50 per cent of the general population) were also polled. The polls conducted by western agencies would make a far better read if they start asking questions like Do you believe that the Muslim world should return to the rule of Khilafah and be governed by the shariah? Unless the complete picture is given, such polls will always convey a biased impression which favours western powers.

US report declares Pakistan the epicentre WMD terrorism

The White House said on 3/12/2008 that it agreed with a bipartisan congressional commission’s report that Pakistan sat closest to the intersection of nuclear weapons and terrorism. “I have no reason to disagree with it,” said White House Press Secretary Dana Perino when asked if the White House agreed with the report. The bipartisan Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism reported that if there was a WMD attack on the United States, it would originate in Pakistan. The commission also briefed President Bush and Vice President-elect Joe Biden, senior congressional leaders and warned them “it is more likely than not that a weapon of mass destruction will be used in a terrorist attack somewhere in the world by the end of 2013”. How much more proof does Pakistan’s establishment need in order to comprehend that America’s next target is Pakistan? It is about time that the establishment in partnership with the people of Pakistan re-establish the Khilafah and oust America’s presence from the region before it is too late.

How to view the attack on Mumbai?

The following is the transcript of a circle delivered on this topic:

Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an: "O you who believe! If a fasiq (liar – evil person) brings you a news, verify it, lest you harm some people in ignorance and afterward repent of what you did” [TMQ 49:6]

Bearing this Ayah of the Quran in mind Muslim must not accept any news reporting’s blindly. So how do we view the dramatic siege of India’s financial capital Mumbai, where over 190 people were killed and more than 250 people injured, where gunmen took over two of the most prominent landmarks of Mumbai, The Taj Mahal Palace hotel and the Trident-Oberoi and many sporadic shootings also took place in different locations around the city. Some foreign nationals were also amongst those killed. This is the issue that everyone is talking about, we need to therefore understand the issue and have a correct perspective on it:

First it is not clear who were behind the recent siege. As with any crime people should not lay the blame on anyone without clear evidence. Unfortunately it is a common practice today especially by the media to point the finger and blame without clear proof, trial by media should not be accepted. The media is accusing Muslim groups and Pakistan to be behind the blast. The Prophet (saw) said: “A believer is not bitten from the same hole twice”.

There are many things to consider:

The timing of the incident needs to be looked at and we need to consider the events before this and who is going to benefit from this

There have been a series of blasts before this in various places around the country such as in Mumbai previously and more recently in Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Surat, Ahmedabad and Malegoan.

There is clear evidence to suggest that many of these were undertaken by right wing Hindutva forces with links to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bajarang Dal – who are tied to the Bharti Janta Party (BJP). Due to the upcoming elections in May next year, it was obvious that Congress and BJP would vie for power and use tactics against each other. It is being reported that BJP was to end up third after Congress and BSP in the elections. If BJP were to do so badly in Delhi elections, they would have to write off their hopes for a come-back in next Lok Sabha elections. It is well known that the BJP have previously used violence such as the Gujarat massacre and the Godhra issue for vote bank politics. The exposure by the ATS caused a huge embarrassment for the BJP, with elections around the corner this could have caused major damage for it. The newspapers for the first time had headlines such as Hindu Terrorism! And were using this term. Congress utilized this issue trying to emphasise its secular image.

Recently the Anti-Terror task force (ATS) and its chief Hemant Karkare had exposed links between right wing Hindu groups and the Malegoan and Samjauta express blasts, something which was designed in a manner to pin blame on Muslims. The chief had exposed the involvement of the mode of operations of various radical Hindu groups and despite severe political pressure- including threats to blow up his house and kill him. The timings and method of the Bombay attack certainly served to distract the media glare from the Hindu fascist groups.

Senior officers in the military were involved in these. Malegaon bomb blast case Lt Col P S Purohit was also directly involved with 2007’s twin Samjhauta Express blasts that killed 68 people and injured 50, Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra Police told a Nashik Court. ATS alleged that Purohit is a recruit of Swami Amritanand Dwivedi alias Dayanand Pandey who they claim masterminded the Malegaon blast. The ATS says that Purohit organised RDX for that terror attack too.

Purohit has admitted that he met Sadhvi Pragya Thakur — the other key accused in the blast case — through the Swami. Pragya Singh Thakur (38), is a ‘sadhvi’ (woman monk), was a popular leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP. According to ATS chief Hemant Karkare, the motorcycle in which the bomb was planted was traced to her. Narco-analysis on Purohit has revealed that he had been tasked by Army Intelligence to gather information on student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). The right wing Hindu groups and the BJP leader had been holding demonstrations in support of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur the co-accused.

Now coming to the recent attack in Mumbai – there are certain key factors we must look at such as why was ATS chief Hemant Karkare targeted and killed? He was instrumental in exposing the anti-Muslim forces? Why would Muslims target him?

Also the ports are highly guarded, how did attackers come in and bring so many weapons, ammunition, equipment, etc? One of the photos of the attackers shows him wearing a Rakhi (hindu wristband). It is reported that within minutes of the event unfolding they discovered a boat in which these people had landed, and even found a passport and mobile SIM of Pakistani origin, just like in 9/11!

Although it is feasible that Muslims undertook the actual attack, we have to realize that many militant groups are easy to infiltrate and motivate as they rely heavily on money – other forces can direct them for specific actions. This is what is most likely happened in 911 in America, where it is so clear that the US allowed that to happened in order to project US foreign policy. Even many non-Muslim thinkers have exposed the whole issue, many websites by non-Muslims are there highlighting this. It is well known that a group to whom George Bush belongs to called PNAC (Project for the New American Century) had been lobbying Clinton to invade Iraq since 1998 and they said on their website that America needs a catastrophic event like Pearl Harbour to project American foreign policy.

We have to appreciate that it is feasible for political factions in this country utilize issues to win elections. It is well known the BJP had been calling for the Interior Minister Shivraj Patil’s resignation since the earlier blasts, but after the Batla house episode in Delhi, where evidence points that it was fabricated to save Patil’s position. This time he has been forced to resign.

We have to understand the wider politics at play, Congress and BJP are 2 sides of the same coin but are backed by different powers. It is well known that Congress historically since the time of Nehru has allegiance to the British and they even directly attacked the BJP for being pro-American. The Congress Party openly stated its disdain for the relationship between the BJP and USA. In its election manifesto under ‘Security, Defence and Foreign policy, The Congress Agenda’ it states:

“Of equal concern has been the BJP/NDA Government’s policies towards the USA. They have been charcterised by a lack of transparency. Till this day, the country has never been taken into confidence about the outcome of several rounds of discussions which Shri Jaswant Singh as Minister of External Affairs had with Mr. Strobe Talbott, Deputy Secretary of State of the USA. Sadly, a great country like India has been reduced to having a subordinate relationship with the USA where the USA takes India for granted. This is the result of the BJP/NDA Government’s willingness to adjust the US priorities and policies without giving due attention to India’s own vital foreign policy and national security interests. The declaration of Pakistan as a non-NATO ally by the USA recently exposed the BJP’s claim of a “paradigm shift” in Indo-US relations. This declaration caught the Government of India by surprise. The subsequent protests by the Government of India have been very weak and have lacked credibility and conviction. The BJP/NDA Government has failed to take the country into confidence about the national security implications of the new tie-up between Pakistan and the USA. It has also failed to dispel the widely-held fears that India has accepted the mediator role for the USA in Indo-Pakistan relations.”

Islam condemns violence against civilians

It should be clear that Islam condemns the killing of innocent civilians wherever they may be whether in Bombay, London or Madrid. Islam prohibits the targeting of civilians even during legitimate wars. This is established by clear evidences in the Islamic texts:

Ahmad narrated from Safwan bin ‘Asal who said: The Messenger of Allah (saw) sent us in an expedition and said: “Travel in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight those who do not believe in Allah. Do not mutilate, deceive or kill a child.”

Al-Bukhari narrated from ibn Umar who said: “A woman was found killed in some of the battles of the Messenger of Allah (saw), so the Messenger of Allah (saw) prohibited the killing of women and children.”

Ahmad narrated from Al-Aswad bin Sar’i who said: The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “What is wrong with the people whose killing exceeded today until they killed children? A man said: O Messenger of Allah (saw) they are merely the children of polytheists. He said: Verily the best of you are the children of polytheists.”

Abu Dawud narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Go forth in the name of Allah, with Allah and in the creed (millah) of the Messenger of Allah. Do not kill a perishing (fani) old man (shaykh), a child or a woman and do not betray. Gather together your booties and be righteous as Allah loves the righteous.”

Ahmad and Abu Dawud narrated from Rabah bin Rabi’ that he left together with the Messenger of Allah (SAW) in a battle which was fought with Khalid bin Walid at its front. Rabah and the Sahabah of the Messenger of Allah (saw) passed by a woman killed in what the front (group) had struck. They stopped to look at her and were astounded by her beauty, until the Messenger of Allah (saw) met them upon his mount so they made a place for her. The Messenger of Allah (saw) stopped over her and said: “This is not one to fight. Go meet Khalid and say to him: Do not kill children nor the hireling.” So the hadith made the reason for the prohibition of killing her as long as she does not fight.

Why do they label it Islamic terrorism?

When the IRA committed terrorist acts in the past, people didn’t blame the Bible and label them as Christian terrorists or when the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) commit terrorism today, people don’t blame Hinduism and call them Hindu terrorists.

There are so many contradictions.

They use issues such as this in order to further curtail the expression of Islam especially the political aspects, they blur the lines between what they call extremism and terrorism.

Allah (swt) says: “They wish to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths….” [TMQ 9:32]

State Terrorism leads to individual terrorism

What is terrorism? Violence against civilians to achieve political goals. Therefore the USA, Europe, Israel, India etc are the biggest terrorists in the world!

The causes behind acts of violence against innocent people on a wide scale in the world need to be scrutinised in an honest manner. Some of the questions that need to be asked are: What are the factors causing violence against innocents by states, groups and individuals? How do countries and their policies contribute towards this? Does occupation and state oppression lead to a backlash?

We admit that some actions of terrorism are committed by Muslims, however we need to identify the real cause of terrorism. The true cause of individual terrorism is state terrorism. E.g. Imagine if your house was destroyed and your father killed, your sister raped – how do you think you will act? We cannot expect everyone will be restricted by the rules of the Shariah, some of them will go beyond the Shariah and may undertake violent acts. So who is to blame? It is the state terrorism of Israel, America and other nations that causes individual actions.

The killing of all innocent people should be remembered and should be condemned including the civilians being killed as we speak in Gaza and Lebanon by the Israeli state, the 1 million people killed in Iraq due to current occupation, Afghanistan, Gujarat, Kashmir and all other places.

Even Muslims who live under oppression should realise that we must not react in a manner that contradicts the rules of Islam. It is not legitimate for even the oppressed to kill innocent people. They must speak out against the oppression and work against it according to the shariah method. Our emotions must be brought in line with Islam. The Prophet (saw) said in a well known narration, “No one of you is a true believer until his emotions are in line with what I have brought.”

We must also take heed from the words of our beloved Prophet (saw):

Hazzam bin Hakeem narrated from his uncle from the Messenger of Allah (saw) who said: “You are in a time of many jurisprudents (fuqaha), few speakers, many who give and few who ask; so action in this time is better than knowledge. There will soon come a time of few jurisprudents, many speakers, many who beg and few who give; so knowledge in this time is better than action.”

Do not succumb to fear

The Prophet (saw) has told us in a hadith: “Let not the fear of people stop you from speaking the truth when you see or witness something. Verily, speaking the truth or reminding about a great matter will not draw death closer or deprive someone from his provision (rizq).” [Reported by Ahmad]

Eid Khutba - Please circulate

The following is a powerful Khutba that has been prepared to be delivered this Eid al-Adha. Please print it and circulate it to the Khatibs and Imams before Eid Salah. The link to the Urdu version will be uploaded soon.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, though we are without our ruler.
Oh Allah! We are at Your service, though we are without the Khilafah.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, Oh Allah! You have no partner,
All praise is only to you, all favours are from You and only You are The Owner of all, You have no partner.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, and how can it be other wise when even the mountains, the trees and sands have already responded to your call. Whoever has heard the call of Syeddina Ibrahim (a.s) calling for Hajj, it becomes incumbent upon him to carry the call forward and You Oh Allah, has only to order us!

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, We have all gathered at the same level and our unity is manifest in our Arkan al Hajj, our oneness is reflected in our common plight, and our unity is demonstrated in our identical sorrows! We are only separated by our rulers!

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, Oh Allah! We are a gathering of different people united in the Hajj and will again be forced to separate in small countries and sheikhdoms which You Oh Allah! Have not ordained. Though we are one, yet we are forced to return to such countries who fight mostly among themselves rather than fighting their common enemy!

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, and we are without a ruler who should lead us and we are without a Khaleefah who could take care of our affairs!

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, while we are wearing the Ahram; we are reminded of the Kafan and our death. While we are circumambulating round the Ka’bah, and we realise that we have to actually do so with the land as Dar al Islam, but this is because the Quran and ruling have become separated!

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, we are now merely a reflection of the Ummah, an Ummah which was the best of nations, which You had raised for the betterment of all humanity and now we are ruled over by beasts who have subjugated Islam & Muslims.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, and we are overwhelmed by our distresses & sorrows and we only complain to you about our weakness and the tragedies and disasters that have befallen over us. Oh Allah! We are at Your service, and our predicament is no better than what it was a year ago, our humiliation has only worsened and we are weaker.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, while Palestine, Iraq, Kashmir and Afghanistan remain occupied by those neither regard ties of kinship nor honour their pledged commitments.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, but our rulers look upon the conflict of Chechnya and every other problem faced by the Ummah as their own internal problem and not that of the Ummah as a whole.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, whole we are fighting in the heart of our lands, our women are usurped, our men are butchered, our children are turned into orphans and our sanctities are trampled upon and violated, and yet our rulers look upon all this and not only remain unmoved but entertain our very killers!

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, our hearts are broken, our tears are flowing like a stream, our strengths are weak, and we ask You to relieve us of this humiliation, persecution and torture.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, though we are not united as one Ummah under one Imam and obeying one Imam rather we are splintered and wayward like the trash flowing on the shores of the seas.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, we have walked past Madeenah, the city of Your beloved Prophet (saw), which was the heart of the First Islamic State and was the place of the Ansar, the pioneers who gave their pledge to You and Your Prophet (saw) to obey and be trustworthy.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, and the Ummah of Your Prophet (saw) is in dire need of who will protect it and to pledge their bai’ah for patience and steadfastness in order to expel the Taghoot of America and its allies and will take charge of the affairs of the Ummah and protect its interests. Such an Ameer, who will not stoop before the enemy and will not be afraid of the blame of the blamers.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, we are subjugated to the illegitimate rulers who apportion to themselves what they do not apportion to us and who have foisted themselves over us and have led us to this level of humiliation and made us the most dishonoured of people.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, we are deprived of a Khaleefah who would manage our affairs as they should be, a Khaleefah who would provide us with justice and lead us to jihad so we could again occupy a position of honour & prestige. Oh Allah! We are at Your service, we offer our prayers as Muslims and render our respects at the grave of the Prophet (saw) while our eyes are full of tears because we are ashamed and overwhelmed.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, but not only ordering the Ma’ruf and preventing the Munkar has been abandoned, rather we are ordered for the Munkar and prevented from the Ma’ruf.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, what ever the Prophet (saw) informed us is the lifeblood of our souls. The worst of our people have been mounted over us as our rulers who lead us by their lashes like herds of cows, who ever follows them, he is lead to the doors of hell, and whoever defies them is lashed and killed.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, the nations of the world feed over us like easy morsels of food, this is because we are no better than orphans.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, millions are waiting for the call of jihad, and we are not prevented by a shortage of either the willing youth or wealth, rather we are prevented by the borders and barriers imposed by the menace of Taghoot who have subjugated us.

Oh Allah! We are at Your service, Al Hamdu lillah, we still have a group of people who are committed to truth and Haqq, who are working for You, who pray day & night in order to restore honour & prestige to Your deen and to sacrifice themselves in Your path so that the entire world is again ruled by what You have revealed and ordered.
