Letter from Hizb ut-Tahrir to the Editor of 'The Hindu'

The Editor The Hindu Chennai, India 6th Jan 2008 Dear Sir, I write in reference to an article published on Sunday, Dec 30, 2007 entitled ‘Islamists within ISI may have aided Benazir assassination, analysts fear’ which maliciously tries to link Hizb ut-Tahrir with the assassination of Ms. Benazir Bhutto. The writer quotes in length one of Hizb’s leaflets which was distributed in Islamabad and across all major cities of Pakistan. The article attempts to goad the reader to a baseless hypothesis whereby the reader is forced into thinking that there may exist a link between Hizb ut-Tahrir and Ms. Bhutto’s assassination. The quoted leaflet has absolutely no assertion for violence or any call for militancy, neither implicit nor explicit; rather it only urges the people to boycott the upcoming elections to show their discontent with the current Kufr system and work for the reestablishment of the Islamic system - the Khilafah. Hence quoting this leaflet under the sub-title of ‘Islamist thr

Butcher of Waziristan meets Butcher of Palestine

Recent reports have reached Pakistan that General Musharraf held a clandestine meeting with Ehud Barak in Paris on 23/1/08. According to a report on a pro-Israeli web-site ynetnews Barak said, “We support your people and back you due to your significance in securing world peace," Barak said. Musharraf placed his hand on Barak's shoulder and replied, "Thank you very much. God willing, I hope you will make progress in the peace process." In fact so eager was Musharraf to strengthen his relationship with Israel that he convened a second meeting which lasted for an hour. With the spilt blood of Muslims as a common platform between the two leaders, it was reported that they discussed Iran and extremism as mutual topics of interest. Over the years Musharraf has tirelessly positioned himself before the Pakistani people as the champion of the Palestinian cause; however, Musharraf like the other rulers of the Muslim world has already abandoned Palestinians in exchange for Isr

Karzai readily admits to being an American puppet

On 26/1/08 President Hamid Karzai speaking to CNN said, “The US administration has helped Afghanistan and if we are called puppets, or if I am called a puppet because we are grateful to America , then let that be my nickname.” The remark was no slip of the tongue, and Karzai unashamedly poured more praise on his America masters. He said, “Anyway, Americans have helped Afghanistan tremendously…The truth is that without the United States in Afghanistan , Afghanistan would be a very poor, miserable country…” Whilst Karzai’s admission about being an American agent comes as no surprise, his remarks about Afghanistan becoming better under American occupation is a gross distortion of the reality. The truth of the matter is that two-thirds of the country is outside Karzai’ control and the writ of the government does not even extend beyond parts of Kabul . The country is under crusader occupation, the people are destitute and rely on food–hand outs from aid agencies and the greatest s
