Following the announcement by Hizb ut-Tahrir of an International Economics Conference in Khartoum, Sudan on 3rd January 2009, there has been news and commentary on the conference appearing in the global media. On Tuesday 16th December, the "Al-Sudaniyah" newspaper wrote that Hizb ut-Tahrir was organising an international conference in Khartoum. It noted that there would be presentations by economists, Muslim scholars and scholars from the Shabab of Hizb ut-Tahrir. It further noted that thousands of delegates would be attending the conference that was scheduled to run from 10 am to 8 pm at Hall No 1 at the Convention Centre in Burri, Khartoum. On the 17th of December, the same newspaper published an article stating that a member of the conference media committee had stated that there would be 12 presentations, including the participation by 4 non-Muslim experts who would discuss the capitalist ideology. On 20th December 2008, the Yemeni media (NewsYemen) reported that Hizb ut-
