Bhutto or ‘Bush’arraf: None of the Above.

On the 3rd of November 2007, General Pervez Musharraf suspended the constitution of Pakistan, sacked the Chief Justice, closed down private TV stations and arrested leading politicians in an attempt, in his own words, to save Pakistan from ‘suicide'. However, Musharraf’s track record reveals that his primary role has always been to put western interests before the interests of Pakistan and the Islamic Ummah. To fight this effort to keep the Ummah subjugated, we must remain steadfast in our resolve to resume the Islamic way of life through the re-establishment of the Khilafah. We must work to transform the thoughts, emotions, and governing institutions – in the Muslim lands – from those that serve the West into those that serve Allah (swt). Earlier this month, the US-backed dictator General Pervez Musharraf declared a state of emergency in Pakistan. Under the pretext of saving the country from “suicide”, he sacked the chief justice, suspended the constitution, dissolved the Supreme...

Fatwa allowing Salah only 3 times a day - what next?

Bear in mind the following Ahadith when reading the following news article: The Prophet (saw) warned us of this. It is narrated on the authority of 'Urwa b. al-Zubayr who said: 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr b. al-'As overcame us with proof. I heard him say: “Allah will not deprive you of knowledge after he has given it to you, but it will be taken away through the death of the religious learned men with their knowledge. Then there will remain ignorant people who, when consulted, will give verdicts according to their opinions whereby they will mislead others and go astray.” [Sahih Bukhari] Awf b. Malik al-Ashja'i narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “My Ummah will become divided into some seventy sects, the greatest will be the test of the people who make analogy to the deen with their own opinions, with it forbidding what Allah has permitted and permitting what Allah has forbidden.” [Al-Tabarani in Al-Kabeer wal-Bazaar, Al-Haithami in Majma' Al-Zawaa'id, Pa...

The Five Types of Hukm Shari (divine rules)

The following is an extract from the draft translation of the Arabic book الفكر الإسلامي al-Fikr al-Islami (The Islamic Thought) by Sheikh Mohammad Mohammad Isma’eel Abduh, originally published in 1958 CE (1377 AH) by Al-Waie Publications, Beirut. Al-hukm ush-Shar’i (divine rule) is the Legislator’s speech pertaining to the actions of men. Thus al-hukm ush-Shar’i is established by the proof of the speech; and it is identified through understanding the meaning of the speech. The Legislator’s speech is that which came in the Kitab and Sunnah, of orders and prohibitions. Therefore, understanding of the hukm Shar’i depends on understanding the Kitab and Sunnah, for they are the origin of Legislation and the source of ahkam (rules). However, it is not (true) that every Legislator’s speech must be undertaken, and there is a punishment for its negligence; or it is forbidden to undertake and there is a punishment for doing it. Rather, this depends on the type of speech. Therefore, it is sin an...

Organisations of the Khilafah State - Part 2

The following is part of a series of articles which are based upon extracts from the excellent book by Hizb ut-Tahrir,( أجهزة دولة الخلافة (في الحكم والإدارة (Ajhizat Dawlat al-Khilafah fil hukm wal idara), 'Organisations of the Khilafah State (in ruling and administration)', published in 2005. We will be focussing on those aspects which are eloborations that are not contained in the earlier book 'The Ruling System in Islam' . The beginning of the book mentions that it is issued and adopted by Hizb ut-Tahrir and that it nullifies anything that disagrees with it, this means that there are some updates to the previously adopted views of the party contained within it. These articles are based upon certain draft translations of extracts of the book, for exact meanings and accuracy please refer to the original Arabic. We haven't posted articles related to the other sections related to the Khaleefah like the method of Bay'ah, the unity of the Khilafah, the mandatory p...

The Islamic Method of Acquiring Knowledge

The following is a chapter from the book 'The Way of thinking' by Hasan Abdullah, soon to be published by Revival Publications. The Islamic Method of Acquiring Knowledge The method by which the Muslim acquires knowledge and thought is critical in determining the impact of the Islamic thoughts upon the individual. If the method of acquiring knowledge was correct and based upon research, profound thinking, and analysis as Allah (swt) ordered, then it will produce effective results. And such a person will turn into an ideological person who thinks in a distinct manner. Allah (swt) orders the human being to think about many aspects of His Creation in a profound and enlightened manner: إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآَيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ "Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding." [TMQ 3:190] أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ...
