Indeed, the Final Messenger to all humankind, RasulAllah (saaw), himself was a military commander, after he (saaw) made Hijrah to Madinah on 12 th Rabiul-Awwal, having previously secured Nussrah (Material Support) from your noble predecessors, the military command of the Ansaar (ra).
