Q&A: Use of metaphors in Qur'an

Question: Allah سبحانه وتعالى says: قَالَ مَنْ يُحْيِ الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?" (YaSin, 36:78) Is the phrase يُحْيِ الْعِظَامَ "give life to bones" in the above verse a metaphor where a part is mentioned to represent the whole? May Allah reward you goodness, and may He preserve you support and treasure for the great Muslim Ummah. May He سبحانه وتعالى grant you victory. From: A. Hamza Answer: We do not rely on metaphor unless applying the reality is impossible, for example: يَجْعَلُونَ أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ مِنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ "They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death" أصابعهم   "their fingers"  is a metaphor for the ends of the fingers because the whole finger in reality cannot be put in to the ears. Only the ends of the fingers can be put in the ears. Another example is: وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ السِّج

Q&A: Is the Ummah ready to face the consequences of establishing Khilafah?

Question: Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu The respected scholar Ata Bin Khalil, after greeting, All of us know that the Ummah today is closer than any other time to announce the Khilafah State, which will be covered by an urgent newsflash that we could hear any time by the will of Allah. But my question, depending on your location and knowledge of the current events, is the Islamic Ummah ready now for such a great thing, especially when we put into consideration that the tasks that follow establishing the state may be is much more difficult than the work to establish it, so is the Ummah ready to tolerate such consequences? From: Yusuf Yusuf Answer: Wa Alaikum Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu My brother, the issue is that Allah سبحانه وتعالى grants us victory, so that we can establish the Khilafah state. As to if the Ummah is ready to tolerate these consequences? Yes, and what is lacking is a pure pious leadership that leads it to the good deeds i

Q&A: Leasing Agricultural Land

Question: Assalamu Alaikum , What is the ruling for someone who has a section of agricultural land that he does not farm, while our agriculture system constitutes either the lease of land from the state or farming of land that is in private possession? The question is, if someone provides the water, seeds and takes care of the land in the form of plowing, planting and harvesting, what is the percentage he is entitled to from the total yield? Is it a quarter, a third or half? I kindly ask for an answer. May you be rewarded with Jannah and may your eyes be blessed with the establishment of the Khilafah State. From: Moomen Alharby Answer: Wa Alaikum Assalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu Your question concerning the leasing of agricultural land... My brother, al-Muzaara'ah is "the lease of land for agriculture", i.e. that is free from trees to someone else, so that he may cultivate it and take care of it in exchange for a certain fee or a percentage of th

Q&A: Strength of Hadith evidence used in specifying the Time Limit to appoint a Khaleefah

Question: Jazak Allah for your reply... also is it possible to make the discussion open so that Muslims may benefit from their contents and to see the sincerity of Hizb ut Tahrir and its Ameer in accepting the truth, after they realise the weakness of the opinion? The first idea that we want to discuss is the time limit for the Muslims to establish the Khilafah. A brother named Aang Yulius wrote this article to me: Is the narration used by Hizb ut Tahrir as an evidence for the fixed time limit for the Muslims to establish the Khilafah correct? From the adopted thoughts of Hizb ut Tahrir is the appointment of a Khalifah for all Muslims; they say it is not permissible for the Muslims to be without a Khalifah for more than three days; if three days passes without any one appointing a Khaleefah for all Muslims, they all become sinful. After the destruction of the Ottoman Khilafah till this day the Muslims have lived for more than eighty years without a Bay'ah (pledge of

Q&A: The Ruling on dealing with Islamic Banks specifically the Issue of Profit Sales (murabaha)

Question: Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu Our esteemed Sheikh, I would like to request from you that you clarify the hukm (ruling) on dealing with Islamic banks, specifically the issue of profit sales (murabaha) such as buying a car or house through the Islamic bank. I know that it is haram but when I give advice to someone regarding this I cannot explain the matter in details. I would like to give an example from our reality that people say it resembles the Islamic Bank in how they deal... where we reside you can make an agreement with the building companies to build a complete house for you in payment instalments (checks) while they contract welders, carpenters, cement...etc. for a specific rate for the materials (e.g.15%), and while they do not own the house, is there any difference between this transaction and that? From Hasan S. Al-Tarda Answer: Wa Alaikumu Assalaam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakaatuhu 1. Islamic banks transactions which are called profit

Introduction to an Islamic Constitution for Syria and the Muslim world - Article 12

The following is the translation of an article from the book by  Hizb ut-Tahrir  entitled 'Introduction to the Constitution and the necessary evidences for it' which is the explanation of its draft constitution for the Khilafah state. This draft translation is from the  second edition  published in 2009 which was updated from the original published in 1963.  Numerous brigades in Syria  have agreed to the implementation of this constitution after the removal of the corrupt system that has brutally suppressed the people for decades.  Article 12 The Book, the Sunnah , the Ijmaa’ of the Sahabah and the Qiyas (analogy) are the only evidences considered in Shari’ah laws, and it is not permitted to adopt any legislation from other than these evidences.                                     This article does not imply that the State will adopt a method of Ijtihad ; it rather means that the State will follow a specific method when adopting the Shari’ah rules.
