In a press note (PN06055) dated 14th September 2006 Shahzad Shaikh, The Deputy Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Pakistan said:
Member of Hizb ut-Tahrir files a civil suite for damages against his false implication on terrorism charges
Senior civil judge Mr. Sayyed Ikram ur Rehman issued notices to SHO Nazimabad Karachi, Mehmood Khan, and Sub Inspector, Abdul Razzak (investigation officer), to appear in his court on 5th October 2006. The notices were issued in response to the suite for damages filed by member of Hizb ut Tahrir, Mr. Shahid Mehmood, worth Rs. 1.8 million. Mr. Shahid Mehmood was kidnapped by SHO Nazimabad on 27th April 2006 at 4.30 a.m. from his house and implicated in a false and baseless case. Later judge of the Anti Terrorism Court 2, Mr. Ferooz Bhati, dropped the charges and ordered the release of Mr. Shahid Mehmood.
